ATLAS

BRIDGE BETWEEN THE PAST AND THE FUTURE

SON OF

POSEIDON

A divine BIRTH

In the once enchanting realm of Ancient Atlantis, 11,800 years ago, a miraculous child was born to the forbidden divine pairing of Poseidon, the formidable God of the Sea, and Aphrodite, the ethereal Goddess of Love. Atlas, their cherished offspring, embodied the wondrous strength of Poseidon, and the beauty, love and empathy that came from Aphrodite that resulted from their celestial union. It had been thought impossible to have an offspring to two Olympians, but Atlas proved all the Olympian laws wrong.

THE END, OF THE BEGINNING

As great as Atlantis was, it could not escape the subtle decay that gnawed away at the roots of its people and its foundations, whispering the inevitable fate that would soon befall it. Yet, within this fading splendor, the love shared by Poseidon and Aphrodite for their beloved son remained undiminished, transcending the boundaries of space and time. Born and in a small hut on the hillside overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, where the pair was at its happiest, Poseidon and Aphrodite experienced a number of years of mortal bliss.

A GOD ANGERED

As the pantheon of gods looked down upon the ancient world, Zeus, the King of Olympus, brooded with growing discontent. The union between Poseidon, his frankly mightier brother, and Aphrodite, the enchanting goddess of love and beauty, had always been a thorn in his side. The birth of their son Atlas only served to exacerbate his unease, as this coupling defied age-old Olympian decrees. Further to this, the Atlanteans became more advanced than Zeus had ever imagined, making Zeus’ hunter gatherers seem so much more stone age in comparison…

THE END OF THE FIRST TRIUMVIRATE

As he gazed upon the world below, Zeus' stormy eyes flickered with flashes of lightning, mirroring his inner turmoil. The heartache gnawed at him, a festering wound that threatened the once-unbreakable bonds of divine kinship. What had once been a harmonious celestial family now trembled on the precipice of discord, the echoes of their grievances reverberating throughout the hallowed halls of Olympus.

A FATE SEALED

In the vast expanse of the cosmos, Zeus, consumed by his mounting hatred, gazed upon a celestial object, a harbinger of destruction, set to just miss our Planet Earth, hurtling through the endless void. As his eyes narrowed, the King of Olympus mustered all his divine might and with a subtle gesture, altered the meteor's trajectory ever so slightly. The change, imperceptible to mortal eyes, would carry consequences of apocalyptic proportions. Zeus knew that this act of divine intervention would bring about the downfall of the great city of Atlantis, a place so dear to Poseidon and Aphrodite, and their beloved son, Atlas. This cataclysm, a manifestation of Zeus' heartache, jealousy and wrath, would forever alter the course of human history, casting a dark shadow over the once-illustrious legacy of Atlantis, and consigning it to being a forgotten tale of another lost civilization. Unfortunately for Zeus, there came Solon and Plato, who turned truth, into legend…

A DIVINE RESCUE ACROSS THE AGES

Poseidon and Aphrodite, united in their love for their cherished son, Atlas, discovered Zeus' treacherous scheme. With the spectre of doom looming overhead, the divine couple, compelled by the unbreakable bond they shared with their child, hatched a daring plan to preserve his life. Poseidon took action, bridging the gap between the doomed Ancient Atlantis and the dawn of 2126, to secure the future of his son, Atlas.

Through a miraculous portal, Atlas was hurtled 11,800 years into the future…

ATLANTIS WAS LOST

BENEATH THE SEA

…THOUGH ATLANTIS WOULD RISE AGAIN

A Quest for Legacy

The year 2126. Emperor Athos and his wife, Empress Elise, walked a path that was fraught with difficulty as they yearned for a child over long, trying years. The ancestral lineage of Atlantis, said to be entangled with Poseidon's own, heightened the pressure on the royal pair to create a true heir, one who could carry forward the tale and special powers fabled to belong to Atlanteans of noble blood.

Empress Elise, a symbol of kindness and dignity, held the affection of much of the world. Her gentle spirit made her a beloved figure within the Imperial Family. Her face, full of warmth and light, featured on the covers of the most revered magazines, a silent tribute to the influence she held over those who looked up to her from a distance.

Plucked from the Sea

In the year 2126, when time had strung itself into a taut line of expectation, the unthinkable occurred. On a day seemingly, as ordinary as any other, Empress Elise, the loving and compassionate heart of New Atlantis, found herself witnessing a miracle. As she strolled on the deck of her imperial yacht, a shimmering, celestial portal burst into existence, an ethereal gateway through time and space. With every bolt and panel of its creation, a ship was trying to get through a round portal above the ocean, rocket engines glowing as bright as the sun, but not quite exceeding escape velocity from wherever they came. It was then, that Elise became a believer, as she saw the ocean itself rise in the form of Aqua, who literally took the ship in her hands, pushing the ship through…

THE LAST SON OF ANCIENT ATLANTIS

Ordering everyone else within the yacht to move inside where they could not see, with the roar of ancient tides and the whisper of forgotten epochs, she swam up to the 100 foot long ship to a figure which emerged encased by the ship. It was a boy, with an aura of antiquity and majesty that belied his tender years. Elise, her heart pounding in her chest like a drumbeat, felt a rush of maternal instincts as she looked upon the child, knowing instinctively that he was Atlas, the long-lost prince of Atlantis. A divine intervention, a mother's love, and a young prince's destiny had all collided in that single moment, leaving a ripple in the fabric of time that would forever mark the history of Atlantis and the Earth.

Heir to the Throne

Atlas swiftly became the radiant center of his parents' universe, especially for the Empress who once believed that she would never be blessed with a child. It's undeniable that their protective instincts may have contributed to Atlas' somewhat carefree approach to responsibility in adulthood. Yet, his innate goodness and unwavering devotion to family and friends have cemented his role as the beacon of joy in their lives, even if his levels of self-awareness were in some ways rather lacking…

A SHELTERED LIFE

From a tender age, Atlas began to exhibit extraordinary abilities that surpassed even those claimed by the most gifted descendants of Atlantis… His parents, acutely aware of the potential consequences, carefully raised him in an atmosphere of caution, ever-vigilant against any threat that might expose or question his true lineage. This delicate balance of nurturing his exceptional talents and safeguarding his secret heritage shaped Atlas into a remarkable individual, poised to embrace the incredible destiny that lay ahead of him, but perhaps in many ways not preparing him for the power of his true nature…

THE LAST OLYMPIAN

Although he had been raised as a Prince of Atlantis, Atlas was not one of them... He was neither from Ancient Atlantis nor new Atlantis. Technically, Atlas wasn't even a man. The son of Poseidon and Aphrodite, he was the last Olympian, sent to the future at the fall of Atlantis to save his life. His childhood had been one of great fear for the Emperor and Empress, unsure of whether he would grow up as a normal boy, let alone a man. At certain ages, he had begun to display strange abilities, but these were hidden from the world, in order to protect Atlas. Given his strength, early temper tantrums, as suffered by any child, were no small matter, leading to many new marble walls being built within the palace… Fortunately, it appeared that with age, any kind of superior strength seemed to be forgotten, by Atlas, and his parents. His not wanting to cause his parents stress made Atlas himself overlook the fact that he wasn't normal.

THE GIFT

Whilst Atlantean nobility with a bloodline to Atlas the XIIth had always shown a strange affinity to water and controlling it, from a young age Atlas had shown an uncanny ability to affect water, to the point where his parents, despite their love of Aqua, had grown to fear it. As such, in an attempt to protect him, his parents did not encourage any of the natural abilities Atlas had with regards to water. Despite this, there were some things which even the Emperor and Empress could not have control over… It was still unclear as to where the Emperor’s third imperial yacht disappeared after Atlas’ father returned after being away for several months on it, much to a young six-year-old Atlas’ displeasure…

THE HAND OF ZEUS

What is to follow, was not known to Atlas or his parents, and yet, it is something that greatly shaped the Earth we live on. It is little known, that the birth of Atlas was the reason for the great falling out of Zeus and Poseidon. None of the twelve Olympians Gods were of pure Olympian blood, and it was forbidden, and thought impossible, to have such a child, but Poseidon went against all of this given his love for Aphrodite, and their desire to have a baby. The ramification of the birth of Atlas would hence echo through the history of the world, echo through eternity, more than anyone could have imagined…

POSEIDON’S CHOICE

It would not be an exaggeration to say, that Zeus, further to his displeasure at the union of Poseidon and Aphrodite and their having Atlas, was made exponentially more upset at what Poseidon had designated Atlas the God of…

The Olympians were obsessed with their lives of pleasure and excess, whereas Poseidon and Aphrodite, having created Atlantis and lived amongst and seen the struggles of humanity, had a very different view of the world and what was of real value. To the great despair of Zeus, Poseidon made him the God of what was the emotion that was most important to mankind, the one thing which couldn’t be killed, the single thing which was incapable of being destroyed, and the only thing in not just the world, but the universe, that can never die…
